RP2-Economic Transformation & Development

Objectives - Impact:

Main aim of this research pillar is to examine how and to which extent the EMU has stimulated Economic Transformation & promoted Economic Development in certain group of countries. It will be contemplated how the EMU has affected old member states (Western Europe), new member states (Eastern Europe) and how it influences the economic environment of aspiring member states. Moreover, our research group in the Czech Republic will contribute with its research input on how the EMU has affected SME's and retail economy in the EU.

Benefits for Participants & Linkage to LLP Goals:

1)      Dissemination of specialized knowledge to Civil Society and furnishing its members with understanding of the significance of the European Integration project, thus enhancing the sense of European identity,

2)      Enhancing education at all levels (academic, intermediaries, civil society) thus serving the objectives of Europe 2020 regarding incentives for increasing third level education,

3)      Promoting academic research of high calibre and the involvement of young researchers and distinguished academics, thus facilitating the goal of a European Research Area.

Impact on the Field of Research: to determine the economic spill-over effect of the EMU in microeconomic level and in regional development, on old, new and aspiring member states, to reinvigorate academic research and stimulate public debate and awareness on the economic impact of EU Integration.
